I write my satire under the pen name “H.P. Sampson” in honor of two of my favorite authors: Hemingway and Poe.
The Orb and The Obs
The Orb and the Obs is H.P. Sampson’s debut novella. It was written during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, as a warning to future generations.
The book follows the life of Raisin and his family of penguins, living in a small bucolic town called Fove. We are introduced to the Orb, the Obs, and a host of characters that use them to control every machination of Fovian society. A series of events threatens to change everything Raisin has been taught and fundamentally alter life in Fove forever.
Written in the style of Orwell, Twain, Bradbury, Heller, and Vonnegut, this satire is a must read for people of all ages.“Wear Your Obs or Your Life it Robs”
